Data Xplorer Enviro

Open Ocean Robotics produces solar-powered uncrewed autonomous boats equipped with sensors, cameras, and acoustics to make oceanic observations and instantly relay them.

We offer a safer, more efficient and affordable way of collecting data.

Using solar power, our boats produce no greenhouse gases, noise pollution or risk of oil spills, and can travel non-stop for months, always on and always collecting information, transforming  the way we understand and protect our oceans.

Monitoring Critical Habitat and Interim Marine Sanctuary Zones (ISZ)

OOR is currently conducting a project with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) to monitor marine mammals in and around critical habitat areas, which have been protected through the creation of interim marine sanctuary zones (ISZ).

It is particularly important to understand the activities of the southern resident killer whale (SRKW) population, which are listed as endangered under both the USA’s Endangered Species Act (ESA) and Canada’s Species at Risk Act (SARA)

Monitoring and Detecting Marine Mammals in Active Sonar Ranges

OOR has worked on projects with in Department of National Defence (DND) to help minimize the risk of harm to marine mammals from naval operations by monitoring and detecting marine mammals in active sonar training ranges.
