Maritime Domain Awareness

Open Ocean Robotics uncrewed surface vehicle, DataXplorer™, participated in the US Navy Task Force 59’s Digital Horizon exercise in Bahrain as well as International Maritime Exercise (IMX) to demonstrate the capabilities of mature uncrewed systems and data integration platforms for maritime domain awareness. Equipped with a non-ITAR, forward-facing thermal camera and connected to a mesh network via radio communications, DataXplorer™ completed 10 deployments and repeatedly showcased its ability to detect and identify dark vessels.

Open Ocean Robotics successfully deployed its DataXplorer™ USV for a 25-day mission to enforce illegal fishing regulations in the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii. Operating continuously in challenging open ocean conditions, the USV monitored the Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary and surrounding areas using a suite of advanced sensors to detect and track vessels and marine activity. Data was transmitted in real-time to the company's cloud-based portal, XplorerView™, for immediate analysis and action. This mission demonstrated the USV's capability to collect critical environmental and surveillance data while balancing solar energy input and output, showcasing its effectiveness in combating illegal fishing.

USV Fleet Operations

Open Ocean Robotics recently partnered with WildAid to combat Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. Over a three-week mission, three DataXplorer™ USVs monitored 1,476 km of key maritime areas, using EnhancedHorizon™ for AI-powered vessel detection and UnderwaterListener™ for acoustic tracking of out-of-sight vessels. With their low-profile design, the USVs operated covertly, showcasing how our innovative technology supports ocean protection and sustainability.
