DataXplorer   Listen

Listen. Learn. Locate.

TM

The DataXplorer™ Listen uncrewed surface vehicle (USV) is a solar-powered, autonomous platform purpose-built for acoustic monitoring, marine mammal studies, and underwater noise assessments. In addition to supporting science and conservation, it enhances maritime domain awareness and port security by detecting and analyzing vessel activity and underwater soundscapes in real time. With a zero-emission design, long-endurance performance, and patented self-righting hull, DX Listen provides a sustainable, versatile, and reliable solution for both environmental monitoring and maritime security operations.

Applications

Marine Mammal Monitoring

Environmental Impact Assessment

Maritime Domain Awareness

Port Security

Why choose DX Listen?

Endurance without Emissions

Powered by solar-electric energy and designed for near-silent operation, DX Listen can remain at sea for weeks without disturbing the environment it monitors. This zero-emission, low-noise profile allows researchers to collect long-duration acoustic datasets without interfering with marine mammals or altering natural soundscapes.

Advanced Acoustic Intelligence

DataXplorer Listen integrates sensitive hydrophones and AI-enhanced detection systems to capture and classify underwater sounds with precision. From marine mammal vocalizations to vessel noise, it provides reliable insights that support research, conservation, and maritime awareness.

Dual-Use Mission Versality

Equally effective for ecological monitoring and maritime security, DataXplorer Listen adapts seamlessly to diverse missions. Whether safeguarding ports, enhancing domain awareness, or studying sensitive habitats, it offers a single, cost-effective platform that meets multiple operational needs in both the civilian and defence sectors.

Case Studies

Marine Mammal
Monitoring

In collaboration with JASCO Applied Sciences, DX Listen was deployed to monitor marine mammals in Canada’s Pacific waters. Equipped with hydrophones and 360° cameras, the solar-powered USV operated autonomously to collect continuous acoustic and visual data, supporting researchers in detecting whale presence and assessing the effects of underwater noise on marine life.
