Open Ocean Robotics Wins Second Place at Singapore’s PIER71 Smart Port Challenge

Nov 27, 2024

We are thrilled to announce that Open Ocean Robotics has won second place in Singapore’s PIER71 Smart Port Challenge! This achievement is a significant milestone for our team and underscores the growing importance of our innovative technology in Singapore and the broader Southeast Asian region. It also marks an exciting step forward in our expansion plans into this market.

The PIER71 Smart Port Challenge is an annual innovation competition aimed at identifying the most promising ideas and solutions from technology start-ups to tackle challenges and capitalize on innovation opportunities presented by Singapore’s maritime corporates. Since its inception in 2017, the challenge has been spearheaded by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).

This year’s challenge began with over 200 applicants from around the world. Open Ocean Robotics was honoured to be one of 30 companies selected to participate in an intensive 2.5-month program. During this time, we had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the market’s unique needs, refine our approach, and develop meaningful commercial interests within Singapore’s maritime ecosystem.

Our second-place finish reflects the potential of our solutions to address critical challenges in the region. As we continue to forge partnerships and build our presence in Southeast Asia, this recognition fuels our mission to transform how maritime operations are conducted, making them safer, more efficient, and more sustainable.

We are deeply grateful to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, the PIER71 team, and all the mentors and corporate partners who supported us throughout this journey. We look forward to bringing our cutting-edge technology to the forefront of Southeast Asia’s maritime innovation landscape.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue to explore new opportunities and expand our global impact!
